Top 5 – Netflix Streaming Week of Sep.20,2009

by Wade Arnold on September 19, 2009

Here’s our picks for the Netflix instant watch movies and t.v. shows for this week:

  1. Movie: Word Wars – We don’t focus on many documentaries, and although the subject doesn’t sound interesting, it’s worth watching. Four “word nerds” get followed by the film makers as they prepare for a scrabble tournament. Check it out.
  2. Movie: Blood, The Last Vampire – This classic anime horror film from 2000 focuses on a secret slayer of demons. The animation is first rate, and the story excellent.
  3. Movie: My Favorite Year – This 1982 movie starring Peter O’Toole is a comedy about an aging matinee idol who is beyond his prime, and tends to drink too much. If you’ve never seen it, you’ll enjoy this laugh fest.
  4. Movie: Pee-Wee’s Big Adventure – Before Paul Reubens lost his popularity, he made this Tim Burton directed comedy classic. There’s something for everyone in this wacky comedy featuring the former morning show character Pee-Wee Herman.
  5. Movie: Dr. Strangelove – If you’ve never seen this Peter Sellers classic, get ready for a dark comedy that comes with an apocalyptic world message. Directed by Stanley Kubrick, this is a must see, or a watch it again if it’s been a while since you last saw it.
