Review: TivoGlo Premium Remote

The Tivo C00211 Glo Premium Remote (White)
(retails for $49.99, NewEgg has it for $10 less) is an addition you must have for your Tivo. Yes, we know you have a remote that came with your box, but unless you bought the Tivo HD XL, you probably have the basic black model of remote.

By the way, the original Tivo remote is one of the best designs ever- but you can improve on that.

The TivoGlo Premium Remote comes in black or white, and adds some nice features onto what the original gives you:

• Back lit buttons for seeing in the dark
• Learning capable – the remote will learn to control almost any tv or audio device if you have the old remote to program it with
• Controls most Tivo models (Doesn’t work with Sony Tivos or the Toshiba DVD player with TiVo service (SD-H400).

So if your original is like a lot of well used Tivo remote’s out there,  and the paint on all the buttons is gone, this is an excellent upgrade. The learning function alone is worth the extra $10 over the cost of a replacement “basic” remote. Even if your original remote is still working, we recommend the TivoGlo Premium Remote as an excellent add on.

This is also the best way to repair your Tivo remote by the way, just the excuse most of us need to get the upgrade.
